CONGRESO IBBI 2008 EN VALLADOLID
+ info
There are three different versions to find out the origins of the name "Valladolid". One relates to Olid The Moore and his valley. A second version relates the term "Valladolid" to its valleys when they were once full of olive-trees. The third version relates the name of our town to the latin term Vallisoleti or Vallisolitum which means water valley. This latter version has been the most currently accepted due to the fact that Valladolid was formerly situated between the banks of two rivers: Pisuerga to the West and Esgueva to the South.
It is said that if students stop and count the number of lion-statues placed in University Square they will never finish college.
